I have a stock 400ex that I whant to bore out, the question is 416 or 426. Also what cam should go whith what bore, (I am going with the 11:1 compression either way). The stage 1 or the stage 2? And last but not least, I hear I should go with rtv gasket at the bottom and a xr400 gasket for the top of the head...Any help or opinions whould be great..Thanks again.

416 would be fine. 426 might overpower it a little but you will still have one bore on the stock sleeve if you do 416 first. Stage 2 is a mid-top cam and stage 1 is a low-mid cam. You should do a port and polish with the cam and piston and invest in an exhaust if you dont already have one.

You could get all most everything from C&D. Here's what I would do...

HMF Full Exhaust/UNI Filter
JE 416 Piston
Cometic Flex Steel Gaskets
A Good Cam, I have a TC, very good.
CRF450 Cam Chain
GT Thunder HD Head Studs
Have either C&D or GT Thunder Port/Polish and do a Valve Job
FCR 39 Carb
Hinson Clutch Basket
Sparks 8 Plate Clutch Kit

Now that would be a strong runner. You could eliminate things like the Carb and Clutch Basket to keep the price down...
