The rod on my PEP steering stabilizer broke (snapped) right at the connection to the steering stem.

Anybody else have this happen??? :ermm

Is there a better way to mount the stabilizer so this does not happen again?? I have a 400ex and mounted it just like they told me.

Are PEP steering stabilizers considered a GOOD stabilizer or are there better ones out there?? :ermm:

sounds like you had it mounted in a way that allowed it to bind causing it to break.

I've used one on my 400ex for a couple years with no problems.
I do seem to recall that when I mounted it to the motor mount, It didn't feel right in a couple positions.....had to adjust it's positioning so it operated smoothly.

I am racing GNCC, never had any problems with mine, it's helping me big time....Look at the way you are mounting it!!!

Yep, just checked it. Turning to the right ALL THE WAY it looks like it binds a little bit. Oh well:ermm:

Thanks for all the input. I thought I mounted it so there was no bind. Can't remember if I turned it all the way lock to lock, though.

Raced the Missouri Harescramble, Jamestown event and know exactly where it broke. The .5 mile dry creek bed with 3ft rocks.
(Beat the crap out of me)

Any of you, ever weld or fix the rod???

Think I will try some JB Weld see if it will hold? :D

good luck with that. Its going to be hard for the rod to slide back and forth if it isnt smooth and straight. Talk to Colby, I believe that they sell replacments for them.

I had to weld on custom mounts on the frame so that the shaft would not keep bending.
