So some of you may remember (ok so probably none of you will) the day that I came to exriders posting about how excited I was to have finally gotten a quad. Well, she's gone now. We had some good times together and she sure took one hell of a beating without ever giving me any problems. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and I traded her in for a brand new RM125. For those of you who ever think you may transition to the "dark side", I'll say this... the bike has been a lot harder to master than I thought it would be. Lateral movement, twist throttle, sitting waaaay up high off the ground, the flickability in the air, the tendency of your body to refuse to lay the bike almost on its side in turns. Definitely an entirely different experience, but a lot of fun regardless.

i used to have a yellow 400ex and i traded it in for a fully modded 2003 RM125. i ended up trading back for a 400ex agian

it was an awesome bike and it would definately rip like hell but trading for the bike was the worst thing i ever did

If you love it now once you get used to it you will love it even more. They are a lot of fun and in many cases a lot less expensive to maintain.

shaved seat foam so it sits lower. cheapest way to go about lowering seat height.

about the shaved seat....the 125s these days sit soooo high...im a pretty big guy for my age...14 and 6' 160 pounds...i hardly even weight the thing down....and the suspension is set for my size....it gets pretty annoying when you dump it over or eat shtuff hard and have to climb up onto it again....id do the same but need the extra padding for my bum:o :chinese:

Most guys on here haven't been around long enough to remember the motocrossers of the early '80s. They were much bigger than today's bikes. CR125's and 250's from 81 and 82 had almost 40 inch seat height, actually listed at 39.8, I believe. My 81 YZ125 was over 38 inches, it was one tall b*tch.

Thanks for all of the comments guys. As for the seat, yes it is shaved down with hardly a centimeter of foam between the vinyl and the plastic. The bike is definitely huge! I'm 5'4'' and 135, looking for all I can get. Suspension has been softened a good amount too. With riding boots I can one foot it good enough so I'm not complaining. It has definitely been a blast to ride. Everyone has their own preference, but I'll never go back to four wheels after having the bike. A 4 stroke would be nice, but they are a good deal more money. Also, I'm not the best mechanically so I wanted a 2 stroke for simplicity. As for the snowboarding comment, Sean White lives 20 minutes North of me in Carlsbad. He often rides at Big Bear (2.5 hours from San Diego) which is said to have the biggest and most diverse terrain park in the states. Me and my roomie on the Cbox, me on left.

i'll be gettin a bike soon!

From what I've learned from my research, YZ125 has been dominating the class. Well, not dominating... but has been sitting on the top by at least a small margin the past couple of years. I've heard great things about the Suzukis though and the dealership had a great deal on the last shipment of 04's that still hadn't sold so I jumped on it. I'm not good enough on the bike yet to even notice a difference I'm sure.

I traded in a BEAT 300EX. They gave me 2K for it which I was stoked about. Kelly Blue Book said 1995 or something for a 2003 300EX in excellent condition. This thing was beat to hell: e-brake broken, plastics roughed up and broken, oil reservoir cracked and welded, entire plastic mount on handlebars destroyed, handlebars bent, etc. Paid off the remaining 3350 straight up. I got the last '04 they had. They had a couple of '04 CRs left too but I had my heart set on the Suzuki.
