View Full Version : aftermarket intake worth it?????

i have the stock intake and air filter and with the air box lid off on my YFZ. i was wondering if anyone knew if an a/f intake kit was worth the $100 or so?

and if so, about how much of a gain would you expect? like 1-2 hp, or more than that.

if i get one, it'll be between the sparks and pro-design w/ foam

Have you looked at the ESR and Ron Woods air systems for the YFZ? We have the Ron Woods and highly recommend it!! I have also heard that the ESR isn't bad. We found that if you are running the stock exhaust, you will need to pull the spark arrester out (creates too much back pressure).

the ron woods makes a big improvement along with a sparks pipe ....but its not really worth it, u cant use an aftermarket shock and besides u can get a full system pipe, cam mod, jet it properly and run a uni filter and not lack anywhere in the power department...for mx riding that is...something like hill shooting or drags i can see but for mx..that 100 would be better spend towards pegs, or shocks, or steerings damper etc.

SRH .. I can't use my sparks intake system with an aftermarket pipe ??? :confused: God damnit !!!!!

I like my sparks setup .

i put a k&n on mine....DEFINATELY worth the money man u get like 5 horses and it sucks so much more air...helps with top speed and exceleration(sp)

I hate to break it to you but your not going to be getting 5 extra hp from just adding a filter, sorry.:ermm:

You said it!!! Why not make it 10 more HP's, it'll probably sell more filter's!
