Wow, a decent turn out to mark what we all hope will be a growing trend in local racing! Tomahawk MX agreed to try a split Quad/Bike race weekend to help seperate the racing and hopefully make it more enjoyable for all.
70+ Quads made thier way to this West Virginia track for an awesome day of MX action.
Paul Gregg (pgregg85) was looking for my lens as he hits the track for practice. I dont miss much, especially a fast rider on one sweet quad!

The track recieved 5 inches of rain thursday night, but quickly showed signs of needing water! Track personel work all day and the track was actually pretty decent.

Turn out was low in the Youth classes, but being the first Youth Quad race with little promotion we did not expect high numbers.
I think it is awesome tracks in this area are open to our youth riders!
Cody Hill would be racing his first ever quad mx race today

My "lil" brother was racing his first mx today. after a terrible start he battled his way from 14th to 4th and then did battle with his buddy Joey pictured above and took 3rd away from him! a mistake cost him bragging rights, knocking him back to 5th. the second moto wasnt any better as he was hit hard in the 1st turn tweaking his axle and he got to post a big ol' dnf.
welcome to racing kevin:D you'll get'em next time:macho

The 50cc class had 2 entries, Ryan Hill (yellow alpha 50) and MX Dad's kid, Mike Carbaugh.
A lone 70cc entry, Damien Westfall was on teh gate aboard his Polaris
Pappy
07-09-2005, 08:24 PM
The gate dropped and Damien and Mike were off! Poor Ryan was doing all he could on the borrowed alpha sport:p
Pappy
07-09-2005, 08:25 PM
Mike was doing great, winning the battle over the 70cc rider and securing himself a win!
Congrats little buddy!

emily did great also, and if the smile on her face was any indication that she likes racing, i believe some boys will be in big trouble in a few years!

"4 laps on a mile and a half track was nothing" said Cody....."I like MX"

2nd moto A class was at first a carbon copy of the 1st. Gregg jumped out front, but Lehr was on him quick and took the lead shortly into Lap 2
Pappy

Gregg had bent his axle and knew he couldnt hold of Lehr or pressure him. Never the less, Gregg hammered down and took 2nd place solidly securing the over all win!

I believe this is the D-7 rep.
Did I hear correctly that he is the one that wanted A class and B class combined on a staggard gate? Some head kncoking needs to be done, no common sense at all.

You can say that again about the reps in D7, hell they have not even been able to score the last several HS races:mad:

no! jer is the one who cused the starting people because they wanted to run two classes together on a quad only day..... as for the hare scramble thing I think you guys should have numbers on the back like us mx guys

I agree about numbers two years ago they had us all use rear number plates, but it seems like it was never enforced and that kind of drifted away. I have heard decent things about Jeremy and I wish he had the bandwidth to cover the HS as well.

As far as D7 reps he raised so much hell and had the gate schedule changed 5 or 6 times. We had it as A,B, C div 1 and 2,90cc,50cc then vet. As far as HS guys numbers, you can not see them after the first lap. That is why you get scaned each time.

yeah jeremy is a good guy that is trying to make d-7 quads as big as the dirtbikes if not bigger. if he could control the woods races the numbers wouldn't even be topic of conversation right now:devil: every body knows that d-7 hs races are nothing but mud pit races but usually the rear plate "if mounted correctly" dosen't get too much mud coverage

D-7 HS one off you guys need to step up and be a Rep. Jeremy Rides usually only at the races. He loves MX but doesn't have a whole lot of time. The HS deal kinda got pushed onto him and he is trying to deal with it. Last year we went a long time without points updates to. We all kinda keep track of our own points. Results are posted at the end of the day and we just write them down for our own info. And if you look at MX points they haven't been updated since april either.
