how do you adjust chain?

im new to atvs (coming from dirtbikes) and i just got my 2002 400ex and didnt get an owner manual yet, could sum1 tel me how i can adjust my chain? when i got it it was a bit loose and u can hear it hittin the swingarm so i need it tightened

ok. well go to your swingarm. loosen those 4 allen bolts that are at the end of the swingarm. now on the right of the sproket you will see a slot. put something in there probably the allen wrench, and push it down to tighten it lift up to loosen the chain. hope this helps. also sent you a pm.

no u dont u an allen wrench to pull the thing... i used a big *** flat head screwn driver....and make sure u pull it down slowly...and it helps to have the quad on a jack

It doesn't matter what you use as long as it gets the job done.

But for your info, it says to use the Allen Wrench in the manual.

i dont see how u use the allex key ..it didnt fit in my slot so i used a big screw driiver but yeah wautever gets the job done

alright thanks i got it done with the allen wrench, but it turns out it wasnt the chain slappin but where it was second hand, i need to buy a clutch kit for it, the clutch is slippin :(
