Atv won't start

I have a suzuki 80 quad sport i bought off of someone and they didn't tell me the year but it won't start i got a new sparkplug and it has gas and oil what could it be? please im me or email me whats wrong thanks.

is it getting fuel, air and spark?

I dunno about spark my friend cleaned the racing sparkplug it had and we filled it up with gas and oil so its gotta be not getting any air?

pull the plug but leave it connected, then ground the plug to the engine block and hit the starter (dont be holding the plug when you do this)

if you see spark you are ok.

make sure the fuel petcock is on

make sure the foot operated saftey lever is activated

also check and see if the parental kill tether is hooked up

I am a expert on this quad. I fixed one once for some guy.

his was sending way to much oil into the motor for no reason. so I just took the guts out of the oil pump and put a knot in the oil line. and told him to mix the gas.

what part of maryland are you in? if your close to essex, bring it over and ill get it running for you

Uh, oh... never a good start. :eek2:

1) check spark
2) check to make sure petcock didn't get clogged
3) Make sure your intake boot on the engine side isn't dry after trying to start. You may need to clean the carb.
4) make sure the exhaust is free flowing. (if the packing blew out into the spark arrestor screen you may not be getting any air flow.)

this is in addition to Pappy's sugestions. He knows a lot more about the quads than I do.
