I have a 2001 300ex and when i let it idle, it revs up, then revs down to the point where it almost dies. I was told that there is probaly dirt in the carb. When i clean the carb, do i just open it or unscrew to screw, (im not sure what it is). If it has to be opened do i just rinse with gas? Please help... Got to get ready for Dutchmen MX

your gunna want to take it apart, take the bowl off, take out the pilot jet and clean it all down and all the passages with carb clean

Might just wanna make sure you're not idling too slow first. ;)

i cleaned the carb yesterday and i relized that when it hits a high idle speed it dies out. But if i am riding, it runs like a dream until i try to idle it. Anyone know why it does this.

its ether your idle screw or or air/fuel mix screw, try the idle screw first, take flat blade screwdiver and look down on the left side of you bike there should be a funny shaped screw with nobs on the edges, play with that screw for an while and if its still doesnt work take all your plastic off and your gastank then your carb and look on the bottom of it for an adjustment screw, that your air/fuel mix screw im notsure if your running lean or rich so just play around with it untill it works
