is it normal for the copnnnecting rod to be changing colors like in the middle of it?

No yours is shot. It comes from overheating.

It all depends on the color,,, heres a pic of a overheated rod,

Note: This is nnot my motor its my friends.

When I took my motor apart mine was a light pink/orange color and it was fine.
