i installed a jet kit on my '99 400ex and it said if i am running it

stage 2 mildly modified with at least and exhaust system, i should

take off the air box lid. i have tyhe exhaust as well as a hot cam

but how do i tell if it is stage 1 or stage 2, it doesnt really say.

also the air box lid is just the black one under the seat with the

K&n filter am i correct? how will doing this affect the performance

of the quad?

You are using the dynojet kit right? Run a 155 with the lid on. With it vented, or off ( I prefer vented since it makes the box stronger) run the 160 or 165 depending on elevation. If you are near sea level, you can run the 165. If you are higher up (3000+ feet), you can get away with the 160. Also, you can use the 160 and summer, and 165 in winter if you wanted. And yes, it is that black rectangular plastic lid that is held on by 4 silver clips, and 2 small brass ones.
