Ive never been impressed with a 400's power. They are very reliable quads though.

The Cannondale handels just as good, if not better than the 400 and has a very powerfull motor. C-Dales are good quads that just need a little more attention than 400ex's dinosaur aged motor.

I can't answer your first question b/c it is ultimately up to you to decide which quad is in your best interest. As far as reliability goes, I don't think anything is more reliable than a 400ex. I will say this. A stock cdale will smoke a stock 400ex. It handles just as good if not better. And with a little money, the cdale can be really reliable.

I sold my 2003 Speed with Lonestar axle, wheel spacers, nerfs, HMF, Tag bars and some other good stuff in real nice condition for 3300. I couldnt get rid of the damn thing, but they're out their.

Before that i owned 3 400ex's and the dale was hands down faster, but i havnt been riding for a while, and when i buy me next quad it will be a 400 just because i know i can start it and go riding, the dale there was no telling wut was gonna leak or w/e.

The 400 is probably more reliable but the c-dale is deffenitaly faster.

Again, it depends on what your priorities are, if you plan on going on a few trail rides and taking it easy. Then probably the 400EX, because you would just want to ride it, and not wrench on it.

If you are planning on racing and being competetive with a stock bike, then the Cannondale is the way to go. BUT you WILL have to wrench more.

C-Dales arn't bikes you just hop on and take off, and only change the oil every few months. They are a pure bred race bike that needs to be cared for, to stay together.

I've got a question for you. How much mechanical ability do you have?

go to a race and count how many 400ex's there are and then count the number of c-dales there are and there is the answer to your question most of the racers know what they are doing and what they are riding you won't see alot of c-dales out there i promise you hondas are the the best bike you can buy

Not to be an as$, but that wasn't a very bright comment.

Your statement is just a matter of opinion. If a lot of people would actually listen for a change, and realize that if you update Cannondales to make them just as reliable as anything else, AND maintain them(like you should any race bike) then there at the top of there game. Why buy a 400EX for 4,000, THEN have to update it, when you can buy a Moto with ALL the updates for the same price, and have a bike that can be extremely competetive, stock.

This guy wants facts on what he should buy, not someones unknowledgable opinion...........good first post:rolleyes:

Ive seen cannondales on here all the time for around 3200, its not uncommon and i think as reliablity a 400ex would win that class, but speed and performance a cannondale would win....think you would have to put a lot of money into a 400ex to make it as fast as a cannondale.... if you know anything about quads it shouldnt be a problem with the cannondale as far as reliability or repairs....

i would buy the most chassis modded dale i could find, take the motor out sell it on ebay and put a yzf or crf motor in it
