I just got an aftermarket 88-89 frame for my R.
It has the letters DDP molded on the frame. The guy I got from says it is made by PRP. I never heard of them neither has Axis shocks when I wanted to order my rear shock.

I noticed the only difference in geometry compared to the stocker is that the shock mount on the frame is about 2 inches higher.

Those of you that have an after market frame, did you notice this?
And is this difference in geometry the same for all No-link rears?

Please help.

thas normally geo for no link rear ends... give or take an inch. as theres no exact standard on no link setups you will find hundreds of mostly compatible slightly different setups.

Zrider400,
My friend is running a stock geometry frame with a lonestar no link swinger. His shock length is the same as mine (17.75 in).
So, I don't think the 2 in difference is there to accept the shock.

I think what zedicus00 said makes sense cause I see that depending on the swingarm maker, the shock mount location on the swinger varies too.

I guess for Axis to valve the shock correctly, they will need know what frame and swinger combo I have to properly valve it, right?

could be a cr500 shock frame also.

ive heard of PRP but dont really have any info on them. but i would put my money with deathman and say its set up for a CR500 shock.

I thought about that too. But the CR500 style is up higher and out to the back too since th shock is almost in the vertical position.

If I was to use the CR500 on this frame, the shock would hit the swingarm. I don't think it's a CR500 frame set up. Thanks for the input though. I really thought about it for a minute.

CR500 rear end setups hav the shock off center.

actually all axis needs to know to valve it are the dimensions, and shock angle.

and shock setups are kinda a black art to begin with so sumone in the line of getting u a custom shock is going to do some geuss work.

just call them and tell them u hav a 250R frame with an upper mount moved to (inset location) a lower swingarm mount (insert location) and an angle of (insert degree).

i too hav a funky no link setup in the works and hav to get a custom length shock built.

NOTE:

they also need to know yur weight and riding style too, thought that was a givin but noting just in case
