repacking mufflers

I have a 400EX with White Bro E series. I took all the packing out and I want to know how much I need to put back to quiet it down. I already took 5 disks out to quiet it down some. But Im still over the limit for Oregon Beach levels. I was told that re-packing would help. Im just curious as to how much I need to cram back in. Thanks

as much as you can get in while still being able to put it back together, you cannot put to much in it

try racetools packing. it is pre-fitted specially for your muffler and can be installed in 2 minutes. the packing is a single weave and is reported to last up to 10 times longer than stock and other aftermarket packings. the only prob i had w/ my white brothers pipe was getting the rivets out. i had to use a drill press and then replace the rivets. the e-series may have allen screws though.
