hey
just wondering if anyone knows anyone personally, or someone on the boards who has rode, or owns one of the service honda cr250r's in the 400ex frame? i am considering buying one, and they pretty much setting it up for 100% mx. the group i ride with is all on 250rs.. i've always been a 2 stroke fan and the thumpers arnt as exciting to me so thats why im considering this deal here. just wanted some feedback from some owners or someone who has maybe rode or raced one...
here's a link,

if i do decide to do this i plan on going with laeger swinger and arms, elka quadrates, 250r plastics of course (how hard are those to mount on 400ex chassis? i've seen it done before...) and all the other little odds and ands

thanks in advance.

I don't think you should get it! The motor is not counter balanced. It does vibrate more than a R. The guy from Service Honda told me that. Also the transmission is not beefed up any for quad use. Lastly you can beat the handling of a R fame. I suggest you find a R. Go through it 100%. Mod it to your liking. Save the rest of the money you were going to waste on the Service Honda 400EX with a CR motor. That thing is far from a 250R!

seems like alot of money to me ... i would rather buy a better on on ebay or build one myself ...you can get a MUCH better race 250r than that for 8,000.00$$$

yeah i guess you guys are right... lol it is a little expensive. now my decision is between buying a built R, or just going thumper... i just like to see the looks on people's faces when your racing in a class with all 4 strokes, and your the only one on a 2 stroke and you show em all up, just to show everyone it can still be done. and i know a built R can do that. lol even more funny, is when you do that on a blaster like i did. lol
