those arent compleat holes, they are just like dents, and that in the bottome of the airbox, not the lid

I dont have a picture but I will try to explain it the best way I can and how I think IMO it should be done. make 6 holes about the size of your thumb finger nail. ex like this PICTURE: but they will be alot smaller. Then before you go to strap your lid back on get some kind of material that it is not thick(like the material or the outwears cover) and lay over the box then strap your lid over the box. That away it will get more air flow but keep more dirt and partricals from getting through. I hope I helped Super_Man

depending on how much water and mud you ride in your better off just taking the lid off, and putting it on when you need it. i'd take a picture of my air box made of plexiglass but my camera is no where to be found =(

probly the LID OFF since more air gets through.

I used to take off the lid on my 300ex(with K&N Filter), but when i put it on, it felt like i was pulling 100 lbs behind...it seemed to LAG a little.

Taking the lid off is not always the best way. I know engine tuners that will drill a hole then dyno it to see what is the best.

As for simple mods for the air box you can by them on ebay for like
45. Or drill some holes and a cheap way to keep dirt out is using stockings. Wont help with the water but works pretty good with everthing else and dam cheap.;)

Ive taken the lid off mine and drilled holes in it too. I got tired of having to re jet the thing when sloppy conditions forced me to fasten a stock lid back on, so the stock lid with no holes is staying on.
