I heard a rumor that for 2006 honda was coming out with a quad with a redesigned XR650 motor that will be electric start and liquid cooled. Has anyone else heard this rumor?

i've heard that too. I think it'll happen eventually because they are the only people except suzuki who doesn't have a big bore.

Honda and/or Suzuki have to be coming out with a big-bore, the new raptor 700 tells us that, I mean why would Yamaha completely redesign the raptor when it was already the best big-bore out, there has to be some heat coming from Honda or Suzuki IMO.:p

if they do come out wih a big bore, I wonder why Honda hasnt released the 06 450R when they have released all the other 06's. Will they still make it?

Well Suzuki is making their own 450, so Idk if we can expect a big bore from them anytime soon... I havent heard anything oh Honda though.

Honda hasn't put the 250ex or the rincon on there '06 lineup either.

I would hope that Honda has somthing up their sleeves for the dealer show this year. People have been waiting for years now for a big bore sport from them. We know Suzuki is unveiling their LTZ 450, and I'd ventre to guess that by years end we'll have a 450 sized sport from Bombardier as well.

Have you ever rode one? Maybe its because you had a really bad experiance with one. Am I right? Did it break down on you alot? Or have you ever owned one?

All rappys are a waste. You can do a lot better for the money. I guess if you're really old and need electric start, reverse and a big cc machine it would almost be the way to go.

trxwhatever rider, I hope you get a chance to come out west and race the last 3 WORCS series races. I would love to show what pro bulit '04 683 raptor with electric start, reverse and a 40 year old rider can do with all the other trx, yfz and every other quad out there. We have 0 dnf's and three top finishes this year so far. come on out, sign up and race.

You are right on with what you say. That was the one problem I had. My second gear is not there anymore. But Yamaha admitted they made a mistake by making a new tranny for the 02 and up Raptors. So they are basically admitting they screwed up.

That's just it R. Kelly, they have to "pro" molest the rappy top to bottom to make it a good racer. In most sports your way better off getting a 450.

trxracer, you are actually right about that. The new 450's are the the way to go now. but I've said this in other threads before, the reason behind ATVA starting pro production was to keep cost down by not having racers spend $25,000 on quads to be competive (250's with custom frames), but EVERY pro level bke is costing $15,000 to $20,000 again now to be race ready.

LOL wow its amazing what crap some people come up with.... I have a a raptor and a ex 400... I have friends with YFZ450's, and friends with honda 450's.... My rappy can smoke all of them in drag race, or power wise anywhere throughout the RPM range... Now ill admitt my rappy is no plce close to stock, it a trinity built 686, stage one hot cam, 35 mm FCR carbs, dyna fs ignition, over sized valves, ported and polished, thunder alley exhaust, elka tripple ratre zero preload shocks, lonestar +2 A arms, dura blue +2 +4 axle.

My point being dont let your brand loyalty make you biased to one brand. Yes i am old (36) and need electric start because my right knee is shot, and my days of kick starting things are over. I do like the reverse, I dont see resaon to go without it. I mean how much weight does reverse ad? maybe 5 or 7 lbs? you probley have 15 LBS of stickers on your quad. The raptor only wieghs 398 lbs, and for a bog bore, with tons of toqure thats pretty damn good, considering the EX wieghs only a few pounds lighter.

Im not sure what machine you have, but your statement was way off kid. This is one raptor ridin old fat guy that would smoke your young but in a drag race, and chances are be more comfortable and a bit quicker in the trails than you are. To make the statement you did, you have obviously never rode a raptor, or raced one with a worthy rider on it.
