well, i did my first oil change on my 400 that i bought a couple of weeks ago and the guy i bought it from wasnt sure what oil he used but gave me a book. the book says either 10w 40 OR 20w 50. i used 10w-40 and im havin a little bit of leakage all around the crankcase. if the guy had used 20w 50 do u think that this would effect it? or is there another reason?
thanks

what oil was used before has nothing to do with why it would be leaking it is probably just a bad gasket

well i figured maybe that since he may have used a thicker oil the seals may have been just right for it. u think maybe?

no there is no way the oil could make a gasket go bad that i can think of. the only other reason i can think of is that you put to much oil in it and the oil pressure was to high but dont hold me to that
