Here is a link to the old Supertrapp style TC Shorty. I don't know if they still sell these but I know they were pretty popular. I also know they are extremely loud. http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=143773&highlight=supertrapp+shorty+400ex

Thats what im lookin for there but i wonder if you have to use the stock head pipe. Id like a lil larder diameter header.

HMF doesnt produce any, but you could make your own. Im sure it would perform great. Probably better than the TC. The regular HMF will perform just as good if not better than the TC, and it wouldnt be too hard to cut it if you wanted to shorten it.

Yea i knew i would have to cut it myself didnt know if it was difficult or is the HMF head pipe a larger diameter how loud would this be approx. dB i dont ride anything but closed course so its not really a prob but just curious incase i decide ride behind the house.

It wouldnt be hard if you have a cutoff tool and access to a tig welder or at least a mig welder. it will be really loud. at least 110 db

increases bottom end and if you race it takes away the chance of someone slamming into the back of you and making you pay for a new pipe. and, it looks cool:)

ok...for one TC exhaust for the 400ex does not come in the full system, you have to modify the stock headpipe in order for the silencer to work. Tom did this for a reason retaining the stock head pipe which gives the TC exhaust its lowend grunt its famous for...he uses this because a full system adds topend...This pipe is an mx pipe, you want all that extra low end grunt out of the turns as possible...This pipe is extremely loud, but the bottomend and torque you get from it is worth it...i dont kno anything about HMF...but i do kno you can get them to make it a shorty for you all you have to do is call them and order them and ask for shorty style...

No its not just a supertrap with a TC sticker thrown on them he actually cuts and modifies them himself....

yes both silencers are made out of alu....i kno for sure about the TC, im not 100% on the HMF but im almost certain it is...hell i think all exhaust canisters are alu. these days...

and you only have to trim 5 inches off your stock headpipe to make the TC work....if noise aint ain issue get the TC...because you can always buy some supertrap disks, and endcap for it to tune it down

So does TC have a web site or can some one post or info on how to get one of this pipes. It sounds like the pipes are good be the Comp that makes them sucks as.

I would only get this pipe if you are going to be on a race track. I had the one that was for sale there and it was just way to loud. They do not come in a full system for the 400. You cut 5-1/2 off your stock header. It does have good power, but I got the full HMF, and all around I like it better, because it has the same bottom end, but much more mid-top...

So it will sound like you are runing streight pipes

It sounds good with the pipe, just way to loud for anything but a track...

I hardly ride anywhere but a track if i do ride somewhere else its behind the house and i dont have any neighbors. The TC on the YFZ has a really nice sound and ive heard louder pipes. But thats the YFZ. Im prob gonna go with the TC cuz its cheaper i think 375 for TC and i think 408 is the cheapest HMF from moto joe.

If you are looking for just a torque pipe for the mx track also look into the Big Gun system. They are known to be some of the torquiest pipes on the market. They are $397 for the full system at chapparal.

The TC is a deep rumble, not high pitched at all. Remember though, the TC is only a slip-on, so you are comparing that to the full HMF, the HMF would be way ahead if it comes to pricing...
