I was wondering how to sand metal. i was going to sand my steel footpegs, becase i have aluminum pegs on there right now and i am starting to jump a little. and i am scared that there going to brake off. and my steel 1's are black. so i was wondering what grit of sand paper to use and how to do it. what lubes should i use if i use any and what grit to start and end with, stuff like that.
thanks guys

So what you are trying to say is that you want to polish your stock steel footpegs because you think they are stronger than the aftermarket aluminum one you have on there?

First of if you polish steel it will rust practicaly over night. Second those aluminum pegs that you have should be way stronger than the stock ones.

Powdercoat would be the way to go, clear would scratch or chip then it would start rusting. And the aluminum can be stronger than steel in the way that the peg is put together.

not these pegs. they were made light weight for dragracing.

O ok then in that case, powdercoat is better than polishing and clear coat.

If you polish the steel, it will rust...

Yes you can clear coat it but this means you cannot polish it until it looks like chrome, the clearcoat will not stick with that high of a polish on it.

The aluminum pegs will be just fine for jumping. Believe you will break you ankle before you break those.

Pappy does powdercoating. He does really good work too. So far the only gold powdercoating he has done has been my springs, heres a pic of how they turned out. I think a gold frame with silver plastic would look sick.

The springs I got done free as a perk of being a mod, but I think they normaly cost around 45 for the front springs, but ask ken. Go to the BK performance part of the forum and ask him for a price quote. He has some of the best prices for powdercoating.
