Last weekend I was racing a guy on a yfz. He had some mods on his bike so I'm not to worried considering I was all stock. He mentioned that he advanced his cam. What does this mean? Did he mean he just put on a rev box? Can this be done to the trx? This guy had the cam mod, full exhaust, jetting, airbox, and a rev box. Maybe he did not know if advancing the cam and rev box were the same?

well, it sounds like he didn't know what he was talking about. on the yfz, you retard, not advance, the timing on the exhaust cam (for the noobs, that's what the cammod is).

and you can do only do it on the yfz.

someone makes an adjustable cam sprocket not sure who. it worrys me because there is so much pressure who says it wont move under full pressure!!!

Actually, I believe you can advance the cam on the yfz and it is supposed to make it unbelievable fast.....but there is a price to pay for all the HP......

nope. retarding it makes it have the same timing as the dirtbike. if you advanced it more, it prolly wouldn't even run, or like crap if it would

you can actually degree in any cam..even the drop ins..the sprocket is just pressed on most cams..

well, yeah of course, i knew that. i guess i just didnt word it right. i didn't mean that you can't change the timing on any bike, but just about doing the "cammod"

not a good idea to advance cam timing on these engines. retard cam timing is what really wakes these engines up.

for top end HP, all engines run best with cam timing running retarded where intake opens 1-3 degrees b4 tdc. most drop in cams open 22 degrees before tdc for more low end bang and longer compression stroke timing

is the best way to fix that with a degree wheel and an adjustable timing sprocket?

retarding the cam hurts the lowend.
