I wish i could just put my quad on a dyno, but there is no way now how. My 300ex has a webcam, wiesco HC Piston 11:1,dyno jet jet kit stage 2(airbox lid off),choke removed, and i'm running tracktek 101 if that matters. i think a stock 300ex has like 17-18 horsepower. what do yall think she is pushing. i'm thinkin close to 25 but i'm the one riding it. lol

if you prted it and bored it out you could be hitting 30 sumthin but right now i think your aroud 27

you are not getting any where near 30 and would be lucky to get 25. ;)

Yea. u know i got to thinking a stock 400ex has like 28. so by what people are saying. i think i'm in the low 20's or something. not bad i guess. it sure doesn't rip & tear *** like it has now 20's. just thought i would see what people thought.

man you should judge it a gainst a stock 400 all stock bikes are insanely conservitive, taking off the airbox lid rejeting and a good exhaust will give you like 4 hp on both the 300 and 400 no to mention advancing the timing porting high compression pistons a carb that isnt 4 sizes too small and a good cam would put a 300 at around 32 or so and a 400 around 40 and that isnt even boring them out where you could probably get 36-38 on a 330 and 43- 44 on a 440

With the origional posters mods, I'd say he's right in the 25hp range, like he was thinking originaly.

I was dyno'd at ~34 peak hp at the rear axle, but I'm 330 w/ oversized valves, port, polish, etc... (yes, almost 2x the stock hp).

But IMHO.. torque is more important on a woods quad. ;)

my 400 with 440 and carb pipe jet and cam ran about 40hp so I would have to agree with Scott-300ex on this one

You get in the 20hp range just going to pipe/filter/jet which easily adds 2hp. Adding the cam & high compression piston will put him well above that.

High compression piston makes a lot more difference in a 300ex than a 400ex or 450r because the 300ex has such a low compression to start with, in comparison to other sport ATV's.

Of course, we could argue it till we were blue in the face. Only a dyno can tell us for sure.

And, of course I'm assuming a near perfect jetting job and Aftermarket pipe + filter of course. 23-25hp is not beyond reason at all. Now if he's still running Stock Pipe & Filter.. yea he's stuck around 20hp until he uncorks her.

Eww.. I see in his sig he has a Cobra Pipe.. I take back all estimates.. lol

Get a different pipe.. any pipe.. lol.

DG, FMF, Sparks, Yoshi, HMF, WB, it dont matter they are ALL better than the Cobra. Hell, stock is actually better than a cobra.. lol.

Sparks, HMF w/ WB header, FMF, WB E-Series, Yoshi, DG in that order (Yoshi's are good just too expensive, imho.)

A good pipe should be your next investment. E-Bay the Cobra.

I would say between 23-25.

I know FST said that just their 330 kit would push out 32 HP, and they had an e-series on that quad, so I'd imagine a sparks would put me up around 34 right there with you. Now I have a lectron carb and I am going to be geting a rev box, so who knows, maybe I'll be able to push out 36-38.

hey i think your pushing out 25 but with the mods in my sig one day were going to go to a place in ky and put it on a dyno and i will tell you what in pushing and probally just subtract a couple horse off that.

Well that's because it is junk. If you want a good pipe that's really loud but actually performs better than stock get a curtis sparks or an HMF with a white bros header. Both of them are extremely loud!! My Sparks is louder than my buddies cobra.:macho

Besides he obviously cares about HP or he wouldnt have created a thread asking about it. ;)

I'd say with the Cobra you're stuck at about 20hp.

Upgrade and you'll be around 25.
