When I bought my 400, there wasnt a tool container. I picked one up on E-bay but the lid is very loose and im sure it will fall off before I get out of my yard. Has anyone figured out a way to secure it from unscrewing and popping off. I was thinking about some sort of cotter pin or something but figured id ask first since a search turned up nothing and im sure my fellow 400/300 owners have run into this problem before. Thanx

drill a small hole on the top and shove a cotter (sp?) key through

In my mind im envisioning a cotter pin but im not sure what would keep that from coming out. Although I think I have an idea. I was kinda hoping someone would have a pic

i didnt use any of that stuff. i jsut put a rag in the tool case and put it there kinda loose. then i had a harder time putting the cover on again. when i finally got the cover on i knew it wasnt going anywhere because the built up pressure from the rag onto the cap would keep it there. give it a try.

happened to me very easy fix for this one ok take some electrical tape and wrap around threads a couple of times then screw cap back on... it should be very tight :D

You could drill a hole straight down in both the cap and the box. The cotter pin would hold the cap from turning off. Cotter pin might look a little tacky though.

I think the electrical tape on the threads would be a cleaner fix.

or drill two tiny holes and wrap a real small black ziptiein a loop and then cut off the excess. Just have a knife with you when you are riding and some spare zip ties in the tool caddy.

Thanx guys, some good ideas there. Ill give the electrical tape a try and see how that works out for me. I know im gonna have a rag in there anyway.

wow, it took you 4 posts to get that across? lol

Anyways, i agree, i would just get a Camelbak or something, and keep it in there, then you could have water, plus carry whatever else you want too

Thanx guys, A couple wraps of the electrical tape and it couldnt fit better. Nice and snug and if I want it tighter I can just wrap it again. Plus as a bonus the tape keeps it well sealed from dust and water. Im glad I didnt go drilling holes in it.

umm, to start it is good for holding your tools. i keep my insurance and registration, tire plug kit, spark plug, and some spare tools in there. they are very handy.

I drilled a hole in my cap & thread area of continer with the lid on. Then used a ball detent bolt pin like you use on the bolt of a paintball gun (like the AutoCocker). Use thumb to push button, and remove, unscrew cap. works like a charm.
