lava soap, margerine and go-jo for your hands.... it may take a combination of all 3. stuff is tacky as all hell.

and get some airfilter cleaner. it works.

2 things.

1)Goop. for your hands.

or a generic

That stuff is the bomb. Will come in a can about 6" in Dia x 3" tall.

I also always rub on a light coating before working with greasy stuff. Makes it that much easier to get grease/oil off your hands.

2) Get some air filter cleaner. It will cut right through that stuff on the filter.. then you just hose it off from the inside of the filter.

1. kerosene for the filter

2. gojo or lava soap for your hands

what u do is get a rag and wipe all loose dirt off of the filter. Then put it in the bucket with kerosene and sqeeze it with rubber gloves on . After that wash and sqeeze with soap and water. Now let it dry in the sun or in front of the fan. Finally put it in a plastic sac with foam filter oil and sqeeze the sack and that way you won't get filter oil on your hand.

I use the PJ1 and /or BelRay cleaners and have never had a problem.

As for my hands - A while back my daughter had to go to ER and while waiting for doc and being a total clepto I got myslef quite a few surgincal gloves (I have heard you can buy them) They work like a dream...Less cumbersome than rubber and when you are done - peel them off and toss them.

Word of warning - Do not accidently leave a pair in your jacket pocket and then lend jacket to your friend....you will get lots of quesitons and odd looks

Gas and Kerosene does nothing but break down the fiber in your filters while it cleans them.

Worst thing ever to clean an air filter with. Why not use the products that are made for cleaning filters safely????

I heard that gas and kerosene actually work better than oil in the tranny so try dumping some in there...:huh
