hey, My 400 clutch went completly out. I Read the manual and it says you need a tool to hold that sproket on and losen the nut in the middle. Do you really need that, or could you do it with out it, i have every tool you could think off. Now for Clutch plates, Should i got with stock or aftermartket trying to stay under 80 bucks thank you need to know asap

You don't need any special tools unless you're going to change the clutch basket. Barnett makes a nice kit for around what you're looking to spend.

Hope this helps,

You don't need any special tools to change the plates. Go with stock plates, Barnet has something in it that gets in to your engine and is bad for oil. Can't remember what its called though. Remember to soak your fiber plates in clean oil for about 15 - 20 mins. Or else you will burn them up when you start it up.

make sure you put them back in the exact way you took them out.

i.e.

pressure plate, clutch plate or vice versa

I can't remeber which way is the right way. I can change a clutch out in 15 minutes man. The hardest part is getting the clutch arm back on the pin that pulls the basket when you pull the clutch.

TnT moyorsports told me about it. They said that if you run them in a hinson basket, that Wayne Hinson would not warrenty it because of this stuff. It starts with a K, like Keilvar or something like that.

You mean kevlar??? Why would that be bad?? Please find out some more info as to why kevlar plates wouldn't be good.

I can't remember exacty why its is bad. I remember them saying when you change your oil, it wil be kind of milky looking. I'll ask them again next time I go down there.

That is interesting!!!! Kevlar is bad for your engine oil. I think that almost all clutch kits now have kevlar clutch plates. I am not for sure though. Please do check into this. It will be interesting to see what you can come up with.
