when you start to take the choke off fan the throttle until you have it all the way off that should keep it running

same thing happens to my neighbors lawn mower....lol:D It really does though. Try cleaning out the carb.

even fanning the throttle doesn't keep it running. Should I rebuild the carb

Try cleaning cour carb and also take the fuel shutoff valve apart and clean the filter in there. sounds like your not getting enough fuel to me!

believe it or not I think I am getting to much fuel due to the fact that I have fuel comming out of the air inlet side of my car.

As soon as you get it started go into first and ride slowly until it warm. Does it idle OK after its warm?

I have just put the quad back togther and don't have the chain on it yet so I have not rode it. It did set for ten minutes yesterday idling prior to me attempting to take the choke off, still died. could anyone recommend a carb rebuild kit for this quad.

you dont need to rebuild it, did you clean it yet, try taking the bowl off the carefully take the float off and see if you still have the little needle thing with the rubber tip, if you do still have it make sure there isnt a indention around it

I think you're jetted too lean. When you pull in the choke lever on a carbuerator, it opens up the slide a little to let in more fuel. If it only runs when it's getting that extra fuel, that means it's not getting enough when it comes off.

The choke is designed to restrict airflow. Less air, with the same amount of fuel, means a richer mixture. This is what makes it easier to start when it's cold, a rich mixture is easier to ignite.

If you're engine idles well on a rich mixture (choke on), but then dies when you take the choke off, that would seem to indicate that your idle mixture is a little lean. Adjust the idle mixture screw to solve the problem.

It may be necessary to replace the pilot jet, but try the mixture screw first.

Does turning the idle mixture screw in make it leaner or richer. Where is it located. Thanks.

In = Richer
Out = Leaner

Should be a slotted brass screw on the bottom of your carb. Start by turning it in (clockwise) a half turn.
