A lot of people are happy with the results of the xr cam but I've also read about people wanting to step it up a notch after they put the xr cam in and get used to it. I'm a few weeks away from putting a 416 in and I'm going to put the TC mx cam which is a drop in (don't have to harden the rockers) or you can use the xr's only hrc copy, also a drop in. The cost $60 more than the xr cam but I don't plan on tearing my topend off anymore than I have because I'm wanting more down the road. Just my opinion, I'll probably catch heat for it but a lot of people are more than happy with the xr cam. You can still run pump gas (92 octane) closer to 11:1 compression which will help your bottom end with a wilder cam. Please correct me if I'm wrong :p

An XR cam is too mellow for any big bore or high compression motor. It works fine in my stock-pistoned EX, but was too mellow for my buddies 440. He is much happier with his GT Thunder cam.

I had an XR cam in mine. Did pretty well on the bottom end, but didnt push the top end any better than stock. Im much happier with the WBs cam....and Im sorry I wasted 160 bucks on the XR.

I've been happy w/ my xr cam, but once I got used to it, I felt it was (is) too mild. I'm looking into replacing mine, but I am not sure what to replace it with yet. You might want to look at the new Hot Cam stage 2 (go to Dennis Kirk (http://www.denniskirk.com) & look it up). It costs about $130 & has no core charge. I am thinking about that one.

No core charge? Thats cool. Thats the thing, cams are kiinda cheap until they tell you they want your old cam or an extra 130 bucks! Crooks!! lol
