Well i just bought a frame, subframe off my friend. And i spotted this exhaust in his shed and got it for FREE:blah: .

Anyway, i think the pictures explain everything. Rear shock blew out on a jump and landed on the pipe. Is there anything we can do to fix it? My dad runs a machine shop, but we really didnt want to have to make a entire new can but it looks like we may have to.

Can you say super shorty, cut that down to about 3 inches long haha.

But it does look like the can is toast, your gonna have to make a new one, or mabey with some hammering and a stud welder/puller you can get it back into shape.

im sure you are right, it will definately take some time! just take evrything off of it, maybe heat it up a little and pop the dents out from the inside. im not sure how well it will work and it will not be like brand new, but hey, you got it for free!

take all the guts out of the can. plug the end, fill it with water, plug the other end, and put it in the freezer. you will have the watch it closely. the water will expand when it freezes and push out the dents. if you dont watch it closly it will bust the seams.

take the can off, plug the outlet of the slip-on. fill it with water, seal it off real good, when it freezes itl bulge the dents right out. :D worth a try

ok, well yeah i was talking to yoshi, and i must say their customer service is #1. I emailed them and the guy responded within about 4hrs of my email and had a ex so he said he knows the problem and went through the same thing. The guy i talked to was not him but he said they have a kit that they sell...by kit im not real sure what he means i know it includes the can and the yoshimura symbol. But i need new packing and im just going to either have a end cap machined or get another one.

And i was totally wrong the can is a SUPER SUPER thin tin or actually its stainless steel. Not going to bother to try to make another its really hard to weld something like that and not worth the time needed to make that. So im going to spend the $70 and get a new one.

Now this takes me to my next question. I will need to repack it. I removed all the packing today and pulled the muffler apart. I couldnt remove it in one peice. I know its really just fiberglass correct? But then in the middle there was all like wire mesh kinda like steel wool in a spot. All you people with shorties did you repack or just leave that all in there?

Guess ill have to ask the yoshi tech that also.

i wouldnt even know how to do it with this. How to get a water tight seal? Its sooooo thin i dont want to weld it, and good luck finding corks to fit those holes.

I have heard it done with 2 stroke pipes so i guess if it works with something like that why not something 3x's thinner?

A friend of mine has had the exact same system on his ex for 4 years and it has no rust and sounds great. i would spend the $70. It is wayyyyworth the money.
