early last year my 400ex had a bad squeak in the front end and i took the shocks of and coated them with a mixture of "dry moly" and oil and the squeaking stopped. the moly is a fine powder that stay in place for a long time, we originally coated bullets for a high power rifle to get better velocity.

Really? That's so odd. I don't understand why we didn't a recall notice. We haven't moved since we purchased it in 2002 (which is the year of the quad) we also paid it off early too, could that be a reason? I am really upset that the stupid thing squeaks, it drives me nuts when I am trying to play in the mud and ride the hills & trails. I go over one small hill and its SQUEAK SQUEAK ggrrrrr :grr:

take your shocks off and grease the pivot points on both ends really well. That's what we have to do on ours all of the time. They get dirt & mud in there, it's enough to drive a guy crazy, i know exactly what your talking about!

Thanks for your help, i will have to try that. I do play in the mud more than I ride the trails, and we try to wash it off as much as possible when we get home but we don't get in and out of the shocks and such. We are heading out this weekend so we will see how it goes! I really want a new quad but to start payments over again would be the wrong direction you know.....
