lol i wouldnt try the sandpaper deal but what the shop does when you hone a cylinder is they sorta bore it to get all of the imprefections out of the cylinder. Makes it faster

dont they make a cylinder hone that you can put on the end of a drill

someone must be tryin to make u screw up your cylinder. a hone is a rod with a bunch of little stones that are all around it that will fit in your cylinder and when you put it in a drill it takes out the imperfections

It could be done with a drill but there is no guarantee that you can drill straight and center when using a rigid hone.

i have a cylinder hone. its basically just a drill bit with a rock material on the end. it has saved me a lot of wasted time and money but you have to make sure you know what your doing when you go to hone it because if its off then you will screw up your hone and your cylinder.

i would have an shop do it, it isnt worth the pain and money if you screw up!

Use a ball hone on a drill.

i would reccomend using a drill press, just incase you were thinking of using a hand drill. but im sure you could get one at an autoparts store or on the net somewhere. when you set it on your drill press, take a level and make sure that it is perfectly flat, i would reccomend a machinists level if you have access. also when you go to hone it, make sure you are centered. if you can get access to a mill, use it and center it up exact on there. thats what i did and it turned out perfect, now i gotta wait for c&d to ship my parts out. :(

at the shop i work at we have tank specially made for honing cylinders and u set it in there and brace it down. then we have a stone hone and different sized bead hones...we use the stone hone for getting like pieces of aluminum off the sleeve or whatever and then use the bead hone for making the cross hatches...we dont use a drill press or nothing just an electric drill.....

i might not be a machinist...but we bore cylinders... and when we take snowmobiles apart and check the tolerneces on the cylinders we gotta hone them so we can check to se if the are still good or need to be bored
