I have searched this topic a little bit, but i cant really find a great answer. I just picked up a new 450r and i plan on racing XC with it and i was wondering what people think of racing XC with nerfs? I raced a 300ex without nerfs for a few races but they were easier tracks and not very challenging. Thanks for any input.

I've been on the couch chatin it up on this computer only because back in march I picked up my new 450r and just could'nt wait 2 get out and start practicing on it. Just so happens my nerfs showed up the day after I really needed them. I lost my footing in a whoop sec. on my own practice track where I have hundreds of hours of seat time. My leg went under the tire and now I'm the proud owner of a broken leg and a torn acl, surgery, no weight bearing, crutches, cant work, and most important NO RACING FOR 6 MOS!!! Get yourself some nerfs immediatley!!! The only more important thing 2 have is your helmet. Hope I awnsered your question.

Man do not wait on nerfs. I broke my back from tagging haybales that outlined the flat-track I was on at the time. My right footpeg hooked a bale and sent me airborne. If I had nerfs, the pain would be a whole lot less.

Don't wait, protect your source of income, Am I right rmw7949?

I might be a little biased but, I will never ride a quad again without nerfs. Does'nt matter if I'm racing or at the dunes. A couple hundred $'s versus $35,000 in medical, about $40,000 in lossed wages, and the worst is havin to watch your buddies race from a wheel chair for six mo's. P.S. I've been dying just waiting for some one to bring this up. They do a pretty good job w/ heel guards but nerfs should be O.E.M. equip. from the fact.

my foot slipped off the peg on a smaller jump - my foot was sucked under the rear tire like a wood chipper. I'm lucky I only got a nice raspberry. the next Monday, I ordered my nerfs! that would have saved me some pain.
