View Full Version : 400ex blowing black smoke

i have a 400ex with a pro circuit pipe and i rejeted when i got it and now it wont idle for over 20 seconds and when it does idle it blows blueish black smoke and if you hit the gas it goes away,so i was wondeing if any of you guys knows what is wrong, thnx for any help!

It will tend to have a blueish tint to it always i think. It has to be white if you're burning oil.

yes i did get a bigger pilot jet, pro circuit said to put a 158 main jet,and a 58 pilot,do you guys think this is wrong?

i called pro circuit and i asked if i should go to a42 piolt and they said no it would be to lean :(

You would even be ok with the stock pilot jet. I have mine stock with my ty-4 except for my dynojet needle and my 138 DJ. It runs really good. If you have your choke off, put in the 42 others\wise I would put the stock one back in. Just my 2 cents though. steve

put a 42 in it and quit your whining a 58 is way to huge that's what i'm running in a 450 stroker with a 43mm carb i know for a fact you don't need anything close to being that huge even if you have a 465 you can't move that much air thru your stock carb your plug has to be a nice sexy crusty black
