Pictured here is 50 inches wide, we had to put an inch taller tires on the front, so since then i put the new tires on standard offset rims. This put it back to 48inches. I was and still am having problems with my frame hitting the face of a jump when i preload the shocks, The shocks are stiff, any suggestions?

Those might be long travel a-arms with std. travel shocks. That may be the problem.

no if you have std. shocks on lt a-arms the skid plate would be on the ground.

are the shocks valved for +2 a-arms?

DVXchic
06-27-2005, 08:12 PM
no The shocks are no valved for +2 arms. I am going to have them sent away for valving, or just buy a set of elkas. And yes the pipe is huge but it works great, it was the first mod I did to my old dvx and man did it ever wake it up.

The stock exhuast is so restrictive on those things that any aftermarket exhaust is gonna wake it up. My buddy just put this exhaust on his 400ex and it sounds great and looks even better so im thinking about putting one on my Z

First the shocks compressed length is probaly too short. Also sounds like you need more dampening, they can do this when revalved. Less preload. Cranking up the preload will give you a harder ride, over the smooth bumps, & still will not keep you from bottoming out. I know its away of trying to compensate for too soft of springs or valving but it does not work.

Here are a couple things you could check & try to get you by. remove the shocks, set the frame on a 2x4 on end measure the length from the shock mount to the a arm, this should be your compressed length. You will need this when you send in the shocks anyways. If the shock is shorter compressed, You could simply add to the bumper to make the length correct. Its not the right way to adjust the shocks travel, but better than your frame hitting. Also check your charge on the shocks. The manufactor can tell you the correct precharge of nitrogen they should read. I have ran thicker shock oil in shocks where we did not have time to revalve them. It can help. Those shocks might also need a rebuild. I hope that helps without writing a book.

Hey thanks for all the info. since i posted that i have removed to works (which were toast) and put on trx450r shocks, they work great and i havent hit the dirt yet.

alright, glad to hear it. Gotta love interchangable parts.

If you want I can rebuild your works for cheap. $30 plus shipping for oil & charge + new seals.

I very happy with mine also...

The Dollar General xcellerator is big and poopy.

DVXchic
09-29-2005, 07:09 PM
whatever..........its better than stock and its not that loud, good horsepower gains too, so what makes it poopy?

09-30-2005, 09:54 AM
i'm not knocking it's performance, because i've never used one.

i'm just saying that it's appearance is not so good.

you have a very sweet looking quad!!! but your silencer, takes it down a notch.

everyone has their own thoughts.......that's just mine.

otherwise, i think your quad rocks.

BTW, i can't believe you said poopy!!! lol. :p
