View Full Version : 450r carb on 400ex?

hey guys, im going to be putting a stock 450r carb on my ex. With the mods listed in my sig. what jetting should i start at?(main/pilot) also, any special brackets or other parts need? some info on how to do this would b appreciated(sp?)

Well, I would start with your current jets, and go up a size or two. I guess you have around a 160 or so, try a 170 and see what that does. You may have to go on up, I know of several 450r that run 185.

I am similarly set up and run 170 with the needle clip down one spot from stock and a 45 or 48 (I can't remember) pilot jet. I would definitely go up one tooth on the front sprocket if I was you. I know after I got done with my mods, first gear went by so fast it was basically useless.

i'm running a 190m and a 52pj on my 450ex and r carb so I would say your goin to be around the 175m and 48pj area
