I was wonder why every one is running a 450R timing chain in the 400ex. What is the advantages and disadvantages of this. Any ifno would be great.

i belive you are thinking of a crf450 cam chain.
1st- they are cheaper than stock 400ex cam chains
2nd- they are a heavier duty cam chain than the 400ex's
3rd-cheper + good quality = alot of people buying them

Yeah this has been posted a bunch of times, just FYI the 02 crf cam chain is the only one that Im aware of that will work, I know that the 03 and up ones will NOT work.

If your cam chain kinks while you have everything torn down, should you replace it if you get it staightened. I am thinking of getting the CRF chain.

the kinking could be due to lack of oil on the chain, during the time the motor was apart, if i had my motor torn down i would do ahead and replace the timing chain with a 02 CRF, or a heavy duty 400ex one.
