My 300ex is missing or cutting out, could it be the spark plug.

when? high rpm? low rpm? if its high rpm then your main jet is too rich at low rpm it means the needle is too high up

Well it used to not backfire at all after i went up on the main jet from a 160 to a 165. But since last Saturday it has been backfiring when I let off of the throttle and then it sputters at the top of each gear and also when hit the throttle hard. I just bought a new spark plug and thats not the problem. The reason i thought that it was the spark plug is because I dropped my other one on the floor and it bent the end of it down.

Make for sure (100%) that you don't have even the smallest exhaust leak, like around your slip-on's clamp. Mine did the very same thing, and a very tiny hole was the culprit.

Could the change in weather be a factor. Because around the time it started to sputter is around when it started to get really humid and hot.
