Im supposed to get my K&N in this week and cant wait. Do u have to use the K&N cleaning stuff or can u use somthing else like water and soap then put oil on it? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soap and water is fine for cleaning, rinse from the inside out and reoil with oil designed for gauze type filter.

engine oil might actually damage it, or not let it work properly, just use k&n oil. the cleaning kit wont cost more than $15

where do i get oil for gauze type filters

auto zone, your local quad dealer, ebay etc.

use k&n's oil to oil it and warm water with some simple green to clean it :macho

Aye.. engine oil isn't tacky enough. It wont filter properly.

Do yourself a favor and get the oil in the spray can, not the shampoo bottle type. Much easier.. lol.

And, yes, ALWAYS rinse it from the inside out.. or it will push the dirt further into the filter.
