just wondering if anybody knows how the cam gear timing marks are supposed to be?

Take out the timing plug on the Left Side (stator side) of the engine. Will have 2 silver plugs with allen wrench slots. The smaller one at the top of the sidecase is the timing plug im talking about. Taking the larger one in the center out allows you to use a wrench to turn over the motor.

Turn the motor over by hand until the Mark on the flywheel is lined up with the slot in the hole.

Now you turn your cam so the lobes are pointing down toward the engine. And align the Marks on the cam sprocket so they are parallel to the gasket face of the engine head.

Your timing should now be set.
