sorry to tell you.. but im pretty sure removing the baffle wont do anything to your power and eventually hurt the motor because of not enough compression..

if i just took off the airbox lid and left the baffel in what jetting would you recommend?should i just replace the main jet or should i raise the needle clip too?i'm runnin k&n filter with precharger

my jetting recomendation would be......................

throw that 300 in the trash!!!!! just leave it alone and ride it. better yet give it to your sister and buy a 400, then come back for some performance questions!!!! modding your 300 is like pissin in the wind!!!! you will not see any worthwile performance change by removing the lid & re-jet!!!!!!

all of your jetting info should be in the owners manual.and i would agree with mstrav1 get rid of that pos! sell it and save up for a 400 like mstrav said. but if i were u i would just get the new 450Rs:D

You could steal one and paint it a different color or not paint it and wait a month or 2 untill the heat dies off and then ride it. Just tell ur parents a good friend gave it to u.

the kids asking a serious question about jetting! whats the purpose of coming on here just to bash him about his quad? we dont call your things a pos, if you dont have an answer then dont post.
but to help out, taking the baffle out wont really do anything for performance but it wont hurt either. takin the lid off and puttin on a k&n should give it a little more of a throttle response but wont do to much with out an aftermarket pipe. for jetting youll probably have to go up maybe two sizes from stock. i wouldnt get a dyno jet kit though, keihin jets are way cheaper and just as good.

What he said.

The leave the muffler as is. the Header pipe is the main restriction.

If you want some more oomph for a low price.. swap out the front sprocket from a 13 tooth to a 12 tooth. You will loose some top speed (not power, but the rev limiter will hit sooner).. but you will have a lot more bottom end power at the wheels for woods riding.

Also depending out your weight.. but an average 150lb -170lb rider.. you'll want to click you'r preload on your shocks 1 notch.. it wont be as squishy and wont roll as bad in the corners. (of course stock tires are gonna roll a lot anyway).

With the stock pipe you can probably leave the lid on even with the K&N. Take it off when you swap out later.

With a 99% stock quad your cheapest "power gain" will be to swap out that front sprocket. You won't actually gain power.. but it will be transfered to the ground sooner. This is assuming you are doing the normal woods riding. If your running gravel roads/fire roads you'll want the taller gearing of course.
