I,Harlen Foley, wasn't able to race at the last round at "The Penton" because I wanted to make sure that the race coverage was taken care of for the race, and I have since made arrangements that I shouldn't have to miss another race this season.

I decided that I wanted to treat the Mountaineer as a new beginning to the season for me after struggling the 1st half of the year, so I switched up the colors and changed my mind set for the race after talking with Johnny Gallagher about his incredible performances at past couple of races.

Also, I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the awesome contigency program that Alba is offering to those that run the Abla Graphics kit.

Over at the start, Erika Jones, arrived on her freshly rebuilt Suzuki with an elaborate color scheme that was very original and eye catching.

I was definitely impressed!!!

#206 Angel Atwell was back after a terrific ride at "The Penton" that was ended due to mechanical problems on the last lap.

Angel has really stepped it up this season and is beginning to be a threat for the win almost every race, but it has escaped her grasp, but it will only be a matter of time, but for now the title chase still belongs to Stephanie and Traci, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a three way chase next year if Angel remains dedicated to her racing program.

#201 Stephanie Parton headed into Round #9 with one less win than Traci Cecco as these two swap wins back and forth, so this race favored Stephanie Parton if the trend was to continue, but Traci had plans to earn his 2nd win in a row after making her first podium appearance of the season at Round #8

Utility Stock Riders, Michael Swift and Ken Robey, both had their best races of the season at the last round in the mud with 3rd and 4th overall finishes as they look to end an Era for Mike Penland in the Utility Stock Class.

Ken Robey made the switch back to the Kawasaki last round, and it already had its share of battle scars with zipped tied front fender and dented bumper with the words "Move Over" clearly painted on the bumper if anyone had trouble understanding him on the track when he came up behind them looking to make the pass.

Brycen Neal wasn't racing this weekend in the 90cc Production Class, but it didn't stop him from coming out to the track and help out his dad, Chris Neal.

Chris Neal is in his Mid 30's and has passion for ATV racing which has kept him coming back this season which has helped him move up into top 5 in the highly competitive Stock Class

Stock Class Rider, Shawn Collins, has only missed one race this season and that was the season opener down in Texas. Shawn has made the trip to every event since to compete in the Stock Class, and even though he has yet to finish in the top 10 in the class, he is having a blast, which it is all about.

#300 Kevin Johnson, Utility Unlimited Class, is currently in 2nd Place in points behind #225 John Ribley as these two riders have battle back an forth all season with neither of them yet to earn a win unlike Neil Belcher with three already this season.

The one thing for sure is that Kevin Johnston is one of the easist riders to pick out from the crowd with the only white Vforce on the track.

To join in on the fun in the Utility Unlimited class for the remainder of the season will be the reigning class champion, Doug Henke.

Doug has about ridden everything this season from the Brute Force, YFZ450, and Predator, but with in the end, he decided to return to the machine that he dominated on the last year.

Luckily for John Ribley & Kevin Johnston that Doug won't have enough races to contend for the championship because I am certain he will pull in his share of wins in the class aboard the Vforce.

As I have said before, one of the great things about GNCC racing is the family atmosphere and Gary Whitcare,35+ C Class Rider, on the line with his wife and children was a perfect example of family involvement.

First Year Race, Ryan Cook, had several of his family members show up and watch him race in his first GNCC race of the season.

With everyone lined up and ready to race and the playing of the National Anthem, the morning class racers were about to be released row by row into the West Virginia Mountains for compete for the Class win and even the Overall.

As usual, the Women's Class started on the 1st row with Traci Cecco getting off to a great start heading into the turn one, but she lost traction making the turn and spun around backwards with gave the lead to Stephanie Parton and Stefanie Verkade

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:21 PM
The second turn was even more brutal on Stefanie Verkade as she flipped over heading around the turn and luckily wasn't run over by another rider.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Parton remained out front with Traci Cecco back to almost last place.

Admin

One minute later, the Super Senior Class took off with Thomas Waybright grabbing the Holeshot with William Guinter and ken Vickerd in chase as they headed to the 2nd turn.

Johnny Gallagher was back to dead last off the start, but it wouldn't take him long to work his way through the class.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:39 PM
With 28 riders, the 4 Stroke Stock Class headed around turn one with Michael Sroka powering his Predator around the inside turn with Jeremy Evans going wide and hard on the gas to grab the Holeshot. I,Harlen Foley, pitched the Z sideways in one of my better starts of the season.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:43 PM
Jeremy Lawson remained out front after the 2nd turn with Jamie Bougher and Jarrod McClure quickly powering their Honda to the front along with Marcus Gonzalez(outside of the photo), which had the top 4 riders aboard Hondas.

I lost several positions before heading into the woods and was back to around 10th place and Marcus Gonzalez's race would quickly come to an end when his engine failed early in the race.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:45 PM
The grass field caused even more havoc in the Utility Mod Class with Bryan Buckhannon spinning around backwards while Scott Kilby applied just enough throttle to keep his Kawasaki under control and grab the Holeshot.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:48 PM
The slick downhill claimed yet another rider as Ryan Hicks is flown through the air off his Kawasaki as his machine rams into the rear of Clifton Beasley.

Ryan Hicks wasted no time remounting his machine and work his way up to 5th by the end of the 1st lap with Clifton moving into 3rd place.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:50 PM
Scott Kilby held a commanding lead heading through the rocks with a large crowd of spectators cheering for him.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:51 PM
With some stiff competition in the Utility Unlimited Class, Kevin Johnston wasn't playing around on the start as he jumped out to the early lead with Brian Auth trying to make his move on the Outside.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:54 PM
Last off the line was Kevin Schmitt aboard his Polaris, which would make it extremely difficult for him to repeat his 3rd place finish at "The Penton".

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:57 PM
The 35+ C Class had Phil Deschamps grabbing the Holeshot with Todd Swain and Mike Butler locking wheels together heading around turn two. Luckily, the two machines would quickly seperate from each othe without much incident.

Admin
06-22-2005, 12:59 PM
The played havoc on Utility machines once again in the Utility Stock Class with Kevin Trantham spinning out on the 1st turn while the experienced Mike Penland pulled away from everyone.

Admin
06-22-2005, 01:01 PM
It really got nasty by the 2nd turn with #918 Steve Gillum and #830 Brian Keating slamming into each other trying to make the turn.

Admin
06-22-2005, 01:04 PM
Steve's machine flips over onto him with Brian's machine cart wheeling onto its front bumper while Ken Robey just avoids the mess with Justin Nutter finding himself with no where to go behind the wreck.

Admin
06-22-2005, 01:06 PM
Fortunately, both men were able to walk away from the wreck, but their race day was over as their machines received some serious damage with parts scattered everywhere around the turn.

Admin

The last start of the morning was the 16-21 First Year Racers, and Nick Marsh grabbed the Holeshot aboard his YFZ450, but he had his goggles covering up the front of his helmet and not protecting his eyes???

Lucky for him he grabbed the Holeshot

Admin
06-22-2005, 01:15 PM
Adam Cooper powered his Vforce around the turn chasing as Nick with all 260 riders heading into the woods for the 1st lap, which was up from last years 228 morning riders.

Near the end of the 1st lap, Stephanie Parton emerged from the woods out front with Traci Cecco making a dramatic charge from behind to within only a few seconds behind Stephanie as they headed onto the MX Track.

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:32 AM
Traci Cecco used her MX experience to reel in Stephanie and make the pass to take over the lead by the end of the 1st lap with Stephanie coming through only 2 seconds behind Traci.

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:35 AM
The next rider to hit the MX track was Stock Class leader, Chris Neal with Jarrod McClure only a few seconds back and moving in quickly on Chris.

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:37 AM
Over two minutes behind Traci and Stephanie, Angel Atwell came through in 3rd with Michael Sroka aboard his Polaris Predator also in 3rd place in the Stock Class looking to make the pass

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:40 AM
Cernics/Suzuki, Harlen Foley, emerged from the trees with Class Champion, Billy Good within few inches of his grab bar as they both tried to track down TJ Whited only a few seconds in front of them in 4th place.

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:41 AM
Billy Good never let off the gas once he hit the MX track, and would go on to pass both Harlen and TJ to move up to 4th place heading into lap two.

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:46 AM
JohnGallagher once again worked himself into 1st place by the end of the 1st lap in the Super Senior Class after passing Ken Vickerd to take over the lead. Ken remained only 7 seconds behind John after the 1st lap, but John would work on extending his lead to close to a minute by the end of lap two.

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:49 AM
Jamie Bougher got off to a great start, but had dropped back to 12th place by the end of the 1st lap after Nathan Derrick made the pass as he worked his way through the pack.

Utility Modified

Scott Kilby continued to lead the Utility Modified Class, but he was feeling the pressure from Brandon Lockahrt only a few seconds behind him after the 1st lap, but Brandon's hard charge behind Scott would end in the 2nd lap as he dropped back to 4th place and over 6 minutes behind Scott Kilby.

Cliffton Beasley would take over the 2nd Spot behind Scott, but was himself over 2 minutes behind the leader.

Utility Stock

The battle was on between Mike Penland and Ken Robey as these two would battle back and forth for the lead in one of the more exciting Utility races of the season.

Kevin Trantham recovered from his spinout on the start and was up to 3rd place, but was almost three minutes behind the leaders and two laps.

Admin
06-23-2005, 07:58 AM
Early in the 2nd lap, Stephanie Parton would take back over the lead as Traci Cecco plowed her Alba Action YFZ into the mud which almost sent her over the bars as the mud pit was covered in grass and didn't look bad on the approach, but it was complete soup once your tires broke the surface and sunk her YFZ a foot deep into the mud while fans rushed over to help her get it unstuck.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:01 AM
Jarrod McClure wasted no time passing Chris Neal in the 2nd lap to take over the lead as Chris began to fade and dropped back to 5th place and over a minute behind Jarrod by the end of the lap.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:12 AM
Billy Good would move up into 2nd Place quickly after Michael Sroka also found himself buried in the mud in the same pit that claimed Traci and Harlen Foley would be the next victim as he thought he found a safe line to make it through the slop, but also found himself up to his knees in mud, but thanful several fans rushed over and grabbed ahold of his front bumper to pull him out of the mud, but it wasn't before several riders would pass both Foley and Sroka.

Harlen Foley wasn't going to let one mistake in the race discourage him as he put his head down and began charging his way back through the pack, and he would eventually catch and pass Billy Good after he attempted the hillclimb and was forced to come back down the hill behind Harlen.

The battle was on between Harlen and Billy as they hammered through the trees.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:14 AM
Will Cashion was smart enough to go around the Mud pit, and worked his way up from 8th to 4th place

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:18 AM
Meanwhile, the grass hillsides played havoc on riders trying to make offchamber turns on the hills.

Ryon Hicks badluck would continue as he falls off his utililty after colliding with Michael Cline, but fortunately neither rider was injuried and Ryon would go on to complete all four laps and finish 5th in the Utility Modified Class.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:21 AM
The Michael or David Kyte tried to warn riders of the slick turn as many where sliding into the woods after locking up their brakes coming down the hill.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:22 AM
Several riders completely missed the turn and rode into the trees as others looked on wondering "Where in the world is he going??"

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:26 AM
Doug Henke was on a mission aboard his Vforce as he would work his way to the front by the end of the 1st lap, which is where he would stay for the reamainder of the race as kevin Johnston rode his heart out in 2nd Place, but it just wasn't enough to keep Doug in sight as he built a 4 minute lead by the 3rd lap

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:30 AM
By end of the 2nd lap, Jarrod McClure remained out front with a 22 second lead over 2nd place.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:32 AM
Once again, Harlen Foley would lead Billy Good into the MX Track, but Harlen's 400 Suzuki was no match to the power of a the 450 Honda as Billy would pull away on the straight aways and take over the 2nd spot with Harlen finishing the lap in 3rd.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:33 AM
TJ Whited had dropped back to 9th place after running strong in the top 5 in lap one.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:37 AM
With Stephanie Parton pulling a two minute lead in the Women's Class after Traci found herself stuck in the mud. The impact that Traci received from hitting the mud pit was enough to cause her arms to become numb and she was having trouble holding on as she headed into her pits for fuel and to explain to her impressive pit crew (Chris Borich, Johnny Gallagher, Rick Cecco, and John Rowlings) what was going on.

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:39 AM
The extended pit stop gave Angel Atwell the oppurtunity to make the pass and move into 2nd place

Admin
06-23-2005, 08:41 AM
Stephanie Verkade also wasn't having the best day after he dismount on the start, and she would only go on to finish 2 laps.

06-23-2005, 08:46 AM
by the end of the 3rd lap, Billy Good had taken over the lead with Harlen Foley moving into 2nd place after passing Jarrod McClure pitting for fuel, but early in the 4th lap Jarrod would pass Harlen back while he headed into his pits for fuel.

Admin
06-23-2005, 09:00 AM

Admin
06-23-2005, 09:01 AM
Traci Cecco remained in the race as she continued to struggle with her ability to hold on, which really slowed her down as she dropped several minutes behind Angel in 2nd place

Admin
06-23-2005, 09:04 AM
with only a few miles to go, Harlen Foley would catch back up to Billy Good in the lead, but Jarrod would end up getting caught up in some Barbwire on the track, which he was unable to free from his axle for over 10 minutes, which dropped him back to 15th while Harlen tried to make one last attempt at reeling in Billy Good before the finish line.

Admin
06-23-2005, 09:06 AM
Billy Good remained in the lead heading to the MX Track with Harlen only a few seconds behind him.

Harlen Foley would hang onto his 2nd Place finish, which was a Morning career best finish after running in the top three numerous times with only a few miles to go and something failing or happening that dropped him out of the top three.

Admin
06-23-2005, 09:12 AM
The next rider to take the Checkered Flag was Stephanie Parton with the Women's Class Win, but would her time be quick enough to earn a podium spot?

Admin
06-23-2005, 09:15 AM
Just under two minutes later, both Will Cashion and John Wright came through the finish line finishing only a twenty seconds ahead of Stephanie with Adjusted time, which dropped her back to a season best 5th Overall as Will Cashion earned himself his 2nd Podium appearance of the year with 3rd overall.

Also, my good friends John Bowers and Chuck Glacken, have dedicated their time to working on my Suzuki this season, which has been a major help.

I also would like to thank all my sponsors that have supported me this season and my other passion ATVriders.com that takes the majority of my free time time anymore.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone at ATVriders.com that visits the site and show their support for what everyone involved in the site does to try and better the sport of ATV racing.

This goes to anyone who reads this, THANK YOU”

Sorry, I am sure it may have looked that way, but it wasn't the intent. I just overlooked the class along with the Super Senior Class results, where Ken Vickerd won the 1st race of the year when John Gallagher never finished the last lap.

Great Race though Rob with your 2nd Place finish in your return to GNCC Racing. I will look for a photo tonight, but I honestly don't think I have one photo of you during the race :(
