I am new to the forum and I am wanting to buy a ATV in the next month or so and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the Raptor 350's? I use to ride as a kid and now I really want to get back into it again. I am not looking for a all out power house just something that is fun to ride with a bunch of my friends. Also if I do want to make it a little faster is there a decent aftermarket for perfomance products yet?

Please let me know your thoughts, Thanks!

Lee

i would go with the honda over the yamaha, but if you must have yamaha, you might as well spend the extra cash get the 660 version.

I've got a raptor 350, and I love it. I ride my brother's 660 sometimes and am glad I got a 350. If any of your friends have one, ride theirs first. There are already a lot of hop-ups for the raptor 350. It is the same motor as the warrior, but feels totally different when riding. You feel like you sit much higher.

I would go with a 400ex because they are a lot faster and you can pick up a used one pretty cheap! See if you hop up a raptor 350 and then will probably be as fast a stock 400ex. But if you a die hard yamaha fan go with the raptor 660.

if you are wanting a raptor then you mite as well spend the extra few hundred dollars and get the bigger 660 its worth it i dont have one to prove it to you but im telling you ive rode the 660 its awesome and i also know you arent looking for all out power but this is all out power for only a few hundred bux more then the 350 its only opinion tho do what you want!!! my advice try to ride them bth first and see which feels better for you and which you like bette yorself!!!

Mhmhmm The Raptor 350 is basically the Warrior with a new chassis and suspension and other stuff. But add some more money and get The bigger Raptor 660

There is a huge difference between the 350, the 400EX and the 660. It depends on what and where you ride. All of the bikes are great for trails, and woods. If you cant get the 660 go for the EX, I own a 660 and ride 350's and EX's on a daily basis. Its kinda hard to get any form of wheelie going on the 350, while the EX and 660 will go right up. Id say take them all out for a ride and decide then.

As stated above, the Raptor 660R, or the 400 ex is a better performance bike. The new 350 Raptor is simply a new version of the Warrior. After riding both the Warrior and 350R, the warrior feels much more stable and is at least 1/2 the cost. A mid to late 90's warrior shouldn't cost more then $2500 and they are bullet proof!! The only thing the Raptor 350 has over the older 400ex's is reverse. just my $0.02 (after owning 3 warriors, two 400EXs and 4 Raptors)

you can get any quad up, how old are you and how much do you weight? where do you ride? what are you thinking you may be interested in (gncc, mx, etc) those are all things you need to consider. if you are a young guy, like 14, i would get atleast an 350. you can always throw some parts on it till you want something more powerful. if you are 17 or older, i would want a larger quad personally since there is an strong chance that you will outgrow an smaller displacement quad quickly...

I love my raptor it stays right there with the 400's and its smaller and easier to fling around on the tight trails. There is plenty parts u could get for it to kick up the power a bit. It is deffianlty the quad to get for trail riding, its got power in all the right places in the trails.

my buddy owns a 350 rapy and my other buddy owns the 660, I own a 400ex and always have to wait for both of the went we ride (mostly whooped sand and some mud and hardpack) and he's already sorry he got the 350 altough a great machine. But also he's the one also getting stuck in the mud all the time , if you must have a rappy350 throw away the stock shoes and buy more agrassive one

I bought an 05 Raptor two months ago and will not complain. Sure, go spend (not an extra couple hundred) an extra couple thousand on a 660 or 400 and get something faster, bigger, blah blah. Or get a bike that has been a top seller since the warrior has been born. I love my raptor, it beets any stock 300, will hang with a 400ex with minimal work. STOCK it will pull a wheelie in THIRD gear. I find it was plenty power to trail ride, a bit top heavy for MX, but in all a great bang for your buck. Hell, i would've loved to keep on spending....draw the line somewhere.

400EX.... cnat go wrong with a 400ex.... I cant say nuthin bad about a 660 Raptor either... besides the 1st or 2nd year or whatever whenever the gearin was messed up in them.
