Hey Guys I was wandering which big bore kit would be the best to go with for desert and dune riding. I am undecided on what to go with, a 310 or a 330. If I go with a 310 I am just going to resleeve the oem cylinder. I would like to hear other people opinions. Thanks ..

Thats a relly nice looking R and not to mention gorgeous girl sitting on it.;) Back to the question go big or stay home. Have you ever thought of a 350 kit?

I'm with him on the 350!
I've owned all three, and the 310 is ok,but for serious hp
the 350 is hard to beat. For all around use the 330 is probably
your best choice.A curtis sparks 330 pv will make more power than most people need for trails or dunes. It is pretty reliable
if ya do it right. But beware!!! If you go with any of the bigger kits then make sure the bottom end is fresh! If not then you will have a box of spare parts before long. The 330 or 350 will require you to have the cases cut anyway so go ahead and put a new factory honda crank in while your at it.I think esr does have a 330 kit that will bolt on without this but I never tried it.I did however own 2 sparks cyl. and they are rockets!Good luck, hope this helps!!

The aftermarket cylinders have a slightly different port layout than the stock OEM cylinder. An aftermarket 310 cylinder will make better power than a stock cylinder resleeved to 310.

SOUND TO ME IF YOU ARE USING THE STOCK CYLNDERS then you probaly dont want to spend alot of money.

if you are looking for reliability and serious horse power then lets talk

first off anything over 310cc you have to bore the cases to accept the large cylnder. point being there is alot of added cost involved with anything over 310 cc

what i strongly suggest is going with a 310 bigbore now 310 will give you good power real good power. but tip top economy choise wouyld be get an aftermarket 310 powervalve cylnder, powervalve cylnders definatly smarten the r up powervalve is the way to go for dune riding, extreme power from top from bottom.

if money is know object the go big if you gonna spend money look good doing it.

go with psi, LRD, or CT these three builders definatly know what they are doing and get the most power out of anything

you can go all the way to 410cc strokin powervalve money can build you what you want so anyway hope i helped.

Not true. There are kits available for 425 without stroking, even 500cc without stroking, pumping out over 100hp. In fact, one kit will actually de-stroke for reliability.

But the point of your post is simple and dead-on. If price is a major concern, then the 310 is the way to go, and can be done much cheaper than the 330. However, if reliability is more important than price, you'll want to replace the crank. If you split the cases to replace the crank, you may as well bore it out for the 330 while you're in there.

However, I would recommend the powervalve for almost any riding BUT dunes. You don't really need low-end, because the "hit" isn't a problem. Also, you're going to spin the tires regardless, even with paddles. The powervalve really doesn't give you much advantage in the dunes, but it DOES limit your porting options.

Well guys I just ordered my ESR 310 kit with a trx9 port today, so my mind is made up. 310 kit. I don't need a power valve for my type of riding and my buddy owns a ct310 and a 330 and his 310 is just as fast with 18 inch tires. I think a 310 will be good for the desert and the dunes. :) :)

this is just my 2 cents but i own a resleeve by duncan and they call it a 295 unless bored all the way out the resleeve makes great power but they had to install a bridge weld back by the intake because its so thin they are prone crack mine hasnt but i have frinds that have

as far as 330 i own a esr old style with a 4mm stroked crank they call it 340 something the ccs dont really matter to me i just know it holds its own

actually it depends on what year engine you have, for the short rod, 310 is the limit bolt on, the long rod engines can go to a 330 bolt on

I would like to propose a new rule at ATVriders.com.

If the first picture of your quad includes a hot chick, then any following pictures of said quad after rebuild or modifications should also include the same hot chick (if possible).

Hot Chick is pregnant right now and does not want to take pictures on quad yet. maybe after the baby and quad is put back together. :) :) :) :) :)

You made a wise choice with the 310 Kit. I have known many racers who have run the 330 kit only to tear up there tranny do to the power.(This is at a MX track, i dont know about reg. riding if it would or not.)
