well, i did my first two stage candy red (before i just did it over polished aluminum). i did a chrome basecoat, and it turned out great. after i got done with that, i shot the red over it and it seemed like the powder wouldn't hardly stick to the chrome. i finally got what looked like enough power on the whole part and baked it. this is what it looks like now  what did i do wrong??? and is there anything i can do, besided stripping it off and redoing it? and just any helpful info about the trans colors you could give me. thanks again pappy

the pic did not work for me, but the biggest tip i can give you is to shoot the trans color once the chrome has cooled to around 180 degrees. my big gun will pull the powder on when the chrome is cold but the hobby guns lack the power to properly charge the metal and attract the powder

do you think i would be able to shoot more red over the parts and them turn out right? most of the parts are fully coated in red, it's just a few spots that arent

and about how much would it be for a pretty good gun. not like a top end gun, but a decent one. the one i have kinda ticks me off sometimes :p it's a chicago electric (like harbor freight sells) btw

sometimes, bringing the part back to 350 degrees and then allowing it to cool to 180 will allow another coat, but usually the red will brown out due to the thickness. best advice is to start over im afraid.

there is an alpha gun on the market, 100 kw and it doesnt do bad at all for small stuff. its around $1400
