View Full Version : Steering dampner?

I race cross-country in Oklahoma, lots of tree roots, stumps, and rocks. I purchased a PEP rebuildable steering dampner, and set it up for medium stiffness. Now I'm bending my right side tie rods, and I don't recall hitting anything that hard. Is this thing that good, or am I doing something wrong? The dampner is mounted on the left side, from the clamp on the steering stem, down to the motor mount.

What'd you think of Cogar? Whooped out wasn't it? I finished 4th and won a whopping 14$. It was enough to get a haircut though. I don't think the Dampner should be causing the bent tierods. It may be that you just aren't feeling whatever's bending them. The 400's tierods are really weak anyways. BTW I'm racing TQRA this weekend in Greenville, TX. Open 4-stroke class. :devil

Oh and yes I do race Pro on a near stock 400. I'll be @ the Sept. GNCC racing 4-stroke stock class or Open B.
Here's a pic of the pond double @ Anadarko for ya.

You should get some good suspension man.

That picture does't do you justice man, that gap is huge. Not to mention that 99%of the crashes at that track, are on that very jump. Cogar had the deepest one sided whoops I've seen since Sahara. Good luck in Texas.

My rear end came down too soon and caught the lip of the landing on my last lap @ that track. I had to clean my pants after that one. Isn't that like a 50-55 footer? Sean said I was clearing it by like 15 feet landing flat.

If its 55ft, it's the longest 55ft I've never jumped, I don't think I'll ever even attempt it. I crashed big time on a triple, kinda jumpshy now.:D

I'm gonna measure it @ the charity race. I'm really curious.

I wonder when OCCRA.com will update the points standings. I think I'm in second now.

I'll probably move down, DNF sorta, bent bars, and "u" shaped right side tie rod, can't go very fast unless the front wheels are in the air. How you think I made it back to the pits? I was 6th in my class and 13th overall, in the points

Did you try to ride a wheelie back into the pits?

But with those whoops, and all that sand, it wouldn't have been a bad idea.
