Ok guys, I need some advice. I've always wanted a 250r, but in NW Ohio they're hard to come by. Yesterday I looked at a 440ex with all the works. The guys I ride with have 2 440ex's and one has a Banshee with Toomey pipes. The Shee beats the 440s by about 2 lengths in 1/4 mi. Should I give in and get the 440 or wait for a R. Also how will an R with the normal mods hold up against the Shee w/toomey's in a 1/4 mile drag.

Easy solution, you have no 250r's for sale in your area so build one. I got all my parts off the internet, and it's comming along good. In a drag, the banshee with toomey's will probably win, unless it's a bad driver on it. But the 250r will dominate once you get someplace that requires turning.

Check out the new dirt wheels (or maybe it's the new ATV Action) for the Duncan Racing big bore cylinder review for the 400ex. According to DRI, they feel the big bore 400ex will be as fast as a stock 450R. If that's the case, I'd forget that!! A 250R with the right parts along with the right piston and porting will destroy a stock 450R. I know my 310 powered R is faster than my bolt-on YFZ, which is already a good bit faster than a bolt-on 450R. It all depends on what you ultimately want from the quad. If you want to race it, look into a YFZ or a 250R with the right parts. Either one will be an *** kicker on a race track.
