After driving 6 hours round trip for saturdays race, Cody thought it was worth repeating the drive on sunday so he could run another race:p We would have stayed down in that area (races were 30 miles apart) but seeing that he destroyed a front rim we had no choice but to return home and re trace our drive today!

So we tried out a new series for us that is located where the usual series runs. The turn out was really really low, i'm geussing fathers day is to blame, not too mention the big race on saturday just down the road.

Only 5 youth quads showed up, and only 1 in Cody's class. No matter, we need the seat time on the new quad and practice is always welcome.

Cody and Devon lined up and dropped the hammer for a 45 minute event.

Once Cody got going straight he started pulling away and grabbed the holeshot

Devon gave chase, but the new national engine is getting the job done, especially when pulling hills!

Canaan Summerfield was also racing and was soon running down the leaders

Cody held the lead over Devon near the start, and with more course in front of them looked to put some distance down:macho

the layout was pretty good, with this section being a bit challanging. The drop off was steep, and it was a tight left hand turn into the creek bed

Cody had the lead for over 1/2 the race and all 3 front runners were really doing well. The creek was something we really had not run before, and we found out the hard way we have an issue with brakes:ermm: After 5 laps, cody lost his front brakes.

Running down the creek had gotton his front brakes so wet they did not have anything left to give. At one point Devon passed cody only to be re passed in a decent straight.

The water did not slow down Summerfield who made a sweet run up a hillclimb to snatch the overall lead away from cody. Cody gave chase but without front brakes he could not keep the pace and slowed but then Devon was back on his bumper so he was back to running as hard as he could.

Finishing 2nd overall to Summerfield and taking his class win was pretty cool. We got to find some more bugs on the new quad so we can address them now and the seat time sure did not hurt!

The engine is working really well, but the carburation will now be addressed. Cody said for the last 4 laps he had to keep re firing the engine by bump starting it at the bottom of every large hill :scary: so that needs to be taken care of.

All in all, it was a great fathers day and a class win to top it off!
