Why isnt the 450R engine a HEMI. It was proven in the 50s that a HEMI head and piston produces more power and a cleaner burn than the same size wedge engine. A Hemi with 2 valves per cylinder has more valve area than a wedge with 4. So why dont they give us HEMI's on our quads.

Our Quads along with most every other motorcycle for almost as long as they have been made are Hemi heads. Hemi refers to the hemispherical shape of the cumbustion chamber wich is round and dome shaped as opposed to the wedge shape from the automotive industry where the combustion chamber is flat on the top and set at an angle hence the "wedge" name. Most any engine with an over head cam has a "hemi" head on it. They may have made them but I have never seen a 4 valve wedge shaped head design. It really wouldn't work very well due to the way the valves are in the head.

Ok thanks for info. Never had a 4 stroke bike motor apart, always been a 2 stroke man. I always figured they where wedge heads since noone ever advertises a HEMI head.
