I just rebuilt my motor (new piston, rings, fresh bore, ported cylinder, and I had the head milled). I went thru 3 heat and cool cycles, then checked the compression. I could only get 180!! I know this is stock for a 250R, does the compression go up as I break it in?? thanks.

seems kinda low for a fresh rebuild with a milled head.i know on my motor i just run a cr head gasket and i get about 200-210psi.
are you sure your compression gauge is acurate?make sure you are holding the throttle wide open and kick it a a bunch of times.
but i would think you should be higher then 180.hope this helps.

180 seems a little low, but it all varies on your motor I guess, my cr80 had 160, and my worked lt80 was pushing 245, I'd say it should be 200ish? Are you holding the gauge down in the hole etc?

how much did you get taken off? what is the port job like, major porting or just cleaning it up? keep going through heat cycles and im sure you'll see it come up a bit. when your putting the tester in use some grease on the threads and on the o-ring to help it seal a bit better.

if you dont see it rising and your sure it should be higher make a leak down tester, maybe you just have a tiny air leak somewhere.

when u put in the rings u might have cracked them put some oil in the clinder to seal it and see if u get better compression.
