i have an 02 raptor, cheap uni intake 25$, full dmc pipe with jets, stage I cam, 11-1 wiesco shaved piston.sunco 110 octane fuel. and i use a 12 tooth front sprocket and a 40 rear. im runnin in between 5.3 and 5.5 seconds in a 300ft drag. my quad is fast, but i think i might be loosing some time by having this 12 tooth front sprocket. im almost thinking that with my mods i should run a 13 because the mods make up for a lot of torque.(would a k&n pro flow intake help also)would the 13 be worth it. what does everyone think i should do, all thoughts are welcome

I run 500ft, Best times are with stock gearing and leaving the line in 2nd gear at 1/2 power on a tacky track or 3nd gear at 3/4 power on a slick track. shifting early as Raptors make the best power between 3000 and 6500 rpm. I run the K&N,If your running stock timming 93 fuel will make more power. 110 burns slower and colder and is not needed with 11:1.On the ing, a setup with a faster curve will make a noticable difference. I run the Dynatech. if you do this run this or something similar run at least 100 fuel

K&N's dont make a noticable power gain... and they have too much air flow, that lets alot of dirt in...

i run 22inch 4 snow tires, so i start off in 1st gear. we also race mostly on a sandy/dry dirt mix.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't increased airflow = more power?

your not wrong and yes it does

The K&N topic has been discussed a million times so search for the answer to that, but like rap686 said no need for the 110 on an 11:1 piston. Also what exactly is a "shaved piston"?:huh

metal around the piston is shaved(cut off) making the piston weigh half as much and rev of a lot faster

rap686 are u sure??"If your running stock timming 93 fuel will make more power. 110 burns slower and colder and is not needed with 11:1." i was told different

dyno's don't lie. yes I'm sure

So correct me if Im wrong but wouldn't that be effectively lowering your compression??? Wouldn't it be easier to just purhcase a "lightweight" piston???

you wont find a piston as light, im not a mechanic but it enables ur piston to pump faster and with a lot less friction

yes more power, but not really noticable... on a dyno u might see it but not by riding it...

Never had an issue with K&N letting dirt by.

You do have to oil it with gause filter oil.. motor oil wont work ;).

And on the shaved piston.. they dont take material off of the top of it.. they take it away form the collar below the pin. Increases wear but rev's a lot faster.

I haven't either and everything I have has one in it. You do have to take care of it properly and if you read the fine print you should replace them after 25 washings so I use a prefilter in very dusty conditions to keep from needing to wash it to offen.

just my 2$$

110 is a waste for your bike!!! 91 or 93 would be fine reguardless of having a shaved piston.

yes a k&n with outerwears and billet ring would be great on your bike. another option would be a power lid. either way you need to eliminate the stock lid and re-jet accordingly if you want extra power

what needles are you running?

why a stage-1 when a stage -2 seems to fit what you want better?

you have your gearing way off go back to a 13 at least, or back to 14 stock front and one higher (lower) in the rear. think how much time you save if you shift one less time

even if you have dyno readings you are wrong about your fuel. want to buy a fuel that will make 6% more power use vpu4 and raise your main jets one size. this fuel is only 93 octane & $50 for (5) gallons

you shouldn't argue with people when you ask for help!!!!!

thanks, matt

nice matt, you showed him :p
but anyways, guys with the K&N's, i havn't had good luck with them, and noone i know has, it might be where i ride... little dirt particles here, and alot of it!!!
