Alright, My 400 wouldnt start. So i got a new plug in, and she will idle. When i touch the gas it will die. Someone told me that i needed to clean the carb out. i have no knowledge of the carb, would i be able to do this? Is there a guide any where here on atvriders?

Get a service manual and it is not a problem! While you are taking it apart, replace all of the soft screws with some better ones, I posted a thread about that, that are .70 pitch screws, can be found at the hardware store.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

It sounds like you have a jetting problem to me but I am no expert.

I rode it once after i got it back, and then it wouldnt run. I just now got around to messing with it. It wouldnt do anything, until I put in a new spark plug. im not going back to my honda dealer

you can change the jetting yourself, it is easy. It sounds like your pilot is fine, but your main jet may need tinkering with.

It is a jetting problem I can promise you that and its going to be your main jet... This same problem happens 2 me for some reason whenever i change main jets and most likely the honda dealer changed jets for you and didnt tighten the main jet up all the way it wiggles loose and falls into the float bowl and will not run when u hit the gas it just dies....the easy way to fix this is loosen up the carb turn it sideways so you can get to it easy and take the 19mm (I think)nut off the bottom of the carb and u will have access to the main jet it should be loose or it shouldnt b there u may have to wiggle the carb and it will fall out and just tighten it back in and go!

mine did the same, well it would start and run but not idle for long at all, or even stay started after id ride for like 10 mins. turns out, i had to get it re-jetted. and it totally fixed the prob. so check into that..
