to let you know what happened to the engine..

there is a shaft that goes from your tranny, through your crank, tothe back fo your clutch basket, I sheered this shaft off, pushed a bearing through my cases, and tore up my tranny...

Don't feel to bad about it when I blew the tranny in my 450R it cost me about 950$ and I did all my own labor

06-16-2005, 10:34 PM
wow that could have been alooooot more if a shop had done it, there like 60-70 bucks an hour around here

wow that could have been alooooot more if a shop had done it, there like 60-70 bucks an hour around here and it always seems to take them 2 weeks of working 6 hours a day to get my stuff done:mad: :grr:

QuadR8cer12, was this just a freak occurance, or what? Anyway, hope you get your quad back soon.

my best guess to why this happened is because I am running a hinson 9 plate clutch basket in my engine and the added weight eventually put to much stress on everything from riding it hard..

my friend just put a 9 plate clutch in his, how long where you running it hard before it went out on you?

I had a hinson 8 plate clutch in my ex for about a year before i sold it...I've never even heard of that happening with any bike. dang

a lil less than a year, I have seen the same thing happen to 3 or 4 other quads with a 9 plate in them... Hunter Miller did the same thing to his quad with the 9 plate in it after about 4 months of having it in there.

When I first bought my 400ex, I put one hour on the machine before it toke a sh*t on me.

The piston caught the sleeve and started wearing down the cylinder, then the sleeve shattered and locked up the quad.

Total price after that was 1,400 +

i feel for ya man
one day i was riding with my buddy and we we flying down the road and i heard a knock and before i could stop the piston came out the front of the cases. it was lost cause to fix so i got a new motor . sounded like some one stuffed a 12 gage down in the motor and pulled the trigger. to get it home i took the chain off with help from the ring off the piston i found bouncing down the road hooked my bumper to my buddies grab bar.
